Jack’s Heat Pump goes viral!
A few years ago I attended a conference where the presenter made a practical and compelling case for how the replacement of older, less energy efficient vehicles, buildings, equipment, etc., could boost sustainability efforts greatly. For example, as fleets of publicly owned vehicles are retired, hybrid replacements could be utilized to significantly reduce the climate impact.
It took some time, but I finally had my opportunity to apply these principles when my furnace began failing over the winter. Heat pump technology has become a viable option even in the colder climate areas like Central Oregon. I was able to get all the information that I needed on the Electrify Now website: Electrify Now. This site is a great resource where you can view informative presentations and literature about many ways to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of your home. I didn’t know my decision to buy a heat pump to replace my furnace and air conditioner would attract such attention, but you can view the “exciting” story here (Jack's Heat Pump) as it was recorded in the Oregonian!
Next up for my family’s sustainability goals . . . an Induction Stove. But maybe I won’t wait around this time until my cooktop begins to fail!
